Baking, Blondie And Big School – The Best Of Tonight’s TV

It's our picks for tonight.

Sue Murphy

From music legends to the Matrix, there is something for everyone on the box tonight…

1. Shooter, RTÉ Two, 9pm.

A former Marine sniper is coaxed back into action when government officials need his help to prevent an assassination attempt on the US president. Starring Mark Wahlberg, this is actually a fine action thriller.

2. Blondie’s New York and the Making of Parallel Lines, BBC Four, 9pm.

Debbie Harry is one of the great pop legends of our time and this documentary looking into the making of Parallel Lines is a must-see for most Blondie plans.

3. The Matrix, ITV2, 9pm.

Most definitely one of the most important sci-fi and action films to be released over the past twenty or so years, the first Matrix is still really special and certainly worth a re-watch.

4. Sweets Made Simple, BBC Two, 9pm.

It’s Friday, it’s treat day, we are totally up for being taught how to make old childhood favourites and other treats by Kitty Hope and Mark Greenwood. It might even give us some ideas for the weekend!

5. Big School, BBC One, 9.30pm.

Return of the classroom comedy, starring David Walliams. When Miss Postern sets up a careers workshop, it seems her slogan `Which Way Now?’ applies as much to her as it does to the pupils.
