When it comes to Christmas movies, we definitely start our binge on December 1.
However, starting too early can leave very little to enjoy later on in the month, so it’s always nice to sprinkle in a few alternatives.
Well, we’ve been on the hunt for a few Christmas-themed movies that won’t be singing Deck The Halls at us the whole way through.
Yes, Netflix has a pretty decent selection of Crimbo flicks, and some of them fall into that ‘alternative’ category that we’re craving right now.
Here are five movies that are seasonally appropriate but won’t be too much of a festive-overload.
1. Happy Christmas
Plot: After splitting up with her boyfriend just before the holidays, a young woman tries to start over, but her self-destructive behaviour gets in the way.
2. A Christmas Horror Story
Plot: This anthology features a quartet of holiday-themed horror tales, including Santa battling zombie elves and demonic Krampus stalking a naughty family.
3. El Camino Christmas
Plot: Stuck in a liquor store during an alleged robbery, a group of strangers share hidden truths and form an unexpected bond on Christmas Eve.
4. Krampus: The Christmas Devil
Plot: Someone kidnaps and tried to kill a child who grows up to be a detective, determined to find the fiend that kidnaps more kids every Christmas.
5. A Very Murray Christmas
Plot: Bill Murray rounds up an all-star cast for an evening of music, mischief and barroom camaraderie in this irreverent twist on holiday variety shows.
