People think this proves The Weeknd almost gave Selena Gomez a kidney

The Weeknd started out the weekend by releasing a six-track EP, My Dear Melancholy.

Which means that fans are reading verrrry deeply into his new lyrics to see if there’s some references to his exes Bella Hadid and Selena Gomez.

Fans seem convinced that the track Call My Name is actually about Selena Gomez and, well, it’s probably not an incorrect assumption.

The song seems to definitely be a nod to one of The Weeknd’s former flames, with the lyrics starting out:

“We found each other / I helped you out of a broken place / You gave me comfort / But falling for you was my mistake.”

But it’s the second verse of the song that has people a little more convinced it is, in fact, about Gomez.

The pop star revealed in an emotional Instagram post late last year that she had undergone a kidney transplant in her fight against Lupus.

And fans reckon that the Weeknd’s latest lyrics hint that he was almost the one to donate a kidney to her.

He continues:

“I said I didn’t feel nothing baby, but I lied / I almost cut a piece of myself for your life.”

He then, according to fans, takes a slight jab at Gomez rekindling her relationship with Justin Bieber shortly after their own split.

He croons:

“Guess I was just another pit stop / Til’ you made up your mind / You just wasted my time”

Neither Gomez or The Weeknd have actually said anything about the song, but until then….

The former couple called it quits late last year after almost a year together.

The couple were first spotted together in early January 2017, before going public with their relationship on social media in April.

They made their first official appearance as a couple together on the red carpet at the Met Gala in May.
