Matthew McConaughey has tonight denied that he co-owns a hunting ranch, following a storm of controversy over the Texas site.
It was reported earlier today that the Oscar-winning actor had come under fire for his involvement with the ranch in Mertzon, which he allegedly bought with brother Mike.
According to TMZ, the ranch breeds and sells horses and cows, as well as offering whitetail deer hunting where people can come to hunt deer within a confined space.
Sources connected with the ranch told the site that there are 22,000 acres for the animals to roam but animal rights groups have claimed that the deer hang by the feeding area, which makes them easy targets.
A representative for McConaughey spoke out to say that he has hasn’t owned the ranch since 2011.
However, he is still listed as a co-owner on the ranch’s site.
