Facing a health condition together creates a shared journey

Last week, the Princess of Wales made the devastating announcement that she has been undergoing treatment for cancer.

Kate Middleton underwent major abdominal surgery in January when her condition was initially thought to be non-cancerous, but later was detected.

“It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok,” the mum-of-three explained in video post.

“As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits.

“Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.”

In February, her father-in-law, King Charles, received his own diagnosis of an unspecified form of cancer, confirmed by Buckingham Palace.

It’s being reported, that, together, the two have grown ‘very close’ in the face of their health battles, with King Charles viewing Kate as the ‘daughter he never had’.

Speaking to The Times, a source shared that the King has ‘always’ had a ‘close, warm and unique’ relationship with his daughter-in-law, while she has ‘a great love and respect for him.’

During their respective treatments, the source said they have spent a lot of time together.

“When they were in hospital together there was a lot of toddling down the corridor to spend time with her,” the insider told the news outlet.

Insiders explained Charles’ treatment of Kate as her being ‘the daughter he never had’.

Meanwhile, insiders have revealed to The Telegraph that the King’s openness about his health diagnosis inspired Kate to share hers.

Almost immediately after Princess Catherine shared her condition publicly, King Charles and Camilla released a statement praising her courage.

“His Majesty is so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did,” the statement began.

“His Majesty has remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law. Both Their Majesties will continue to offer their love and support to the family at this time.”

We’re sending well wishes to both King Charles and Princess Catherine for a quick recovery.
