An official update on the royal wedding.

Kensington Palace today released new information regarding the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with the update coming directly from the Prince’s Communications Secretary.

Although there has been much speculation about the wedding over the last few weeks, this lengthy statement clarifies many of the previously confirmed reports.

Meghan’s parents, Doria Ragland and Thomas Markle will arrive in London a week before the wedding itself and both will have “important roles” on the day itself.

“On the morning of the wedding, Ms Ragland will travel with Ms Markle by car to Windsor Castle. Mr Markle will walk his daughter down the aisle of St George’s Chapel”.

The statement also places emphasis on the fact that Prince Harry wants to involve his mother’s family on the day, as a way of paying tribute to the late Princess Diana.

“All three siblings of Diana, Princess of Wales will be in attendance and Lady Jane Fellowes will give the reading. Prince Harry and Ms Markle both feel honoured that Lady Jane will be representing her family and helping to celebrate the memory of the late Princess on the wedding day”.

Apparently, Meghan won’t have any of her close adult friends as bridesmaids on the day and instead, her bridal party will include younger bridesmaids and page boys believed to be from the royal family.

More information on this will be provided over the next two weeks, according to the statement.

Further detail has been given on what will happen in Windsor, the location of the wedding, before, during and after the main event.

It’s thought that the service itself will take an hour but there will be the opportunity to see the couple at a number of stages throughout the day and you can read all the detail on that here.

Formal photographs, taken by Alexi Lubomirski, are also expected to be released next week.
