Yes, Lady G fended off competition from fashion institutions and couture collectors around the world to buy an Alexander McQueen gown that was up for auction at Christie’s Auction House.
The dress itself was from the personal collection of Daphne Guinness, and Gaga bid alongside interested parties from 21 different countries. The auction was held in order to raise funds for the Isabella Blow Foundation – a foundation that helps to support fresh talent in the fashion industry.
According to reports, the dress was an ivory silk gown from late designer Alexander McQueen called: ‘The Girl Who Lived in the Tree.’ The dress is believed to have been sold for four times its original estimate. Not bad, right?
