The Nine O’Clock news on RTÉ ran into a spot of bother this evening due to a couple of technical issues.
Viewers waiting for the news were greeted with a blue screen and an RTÉ logo thanks to an issue with the sound desk which required a studio move.
Apologies again for the delay in bringing you tonight’s @rtenews, we are now back up and running with Eileen Dunne in the newsroom

Things got moving after a ten minute delay but as the teleprompter was down, newsreader Eileen Dunne has to turn to notes on her desk.
By all accounts, she played a blinder and Twitter users had a lot of praise for the RTÉ stalwart.
Ah lads she is reading from a page. Imagine the panic. Fair play Eileen. Ever the professional #rte #news — Amy Dalton (@Amy_Dalton) October 5, 2015
