Bridesmaids duo Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy are to reunite for an all-female Ghostbusters remake.
The film’s director Paul Feig announced the news via Twitter while revealing that Saturday Night Live stars Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon will also feature.

The film is due for release on July 22nd, 2016 and after seeing this stellar cast, we’re VERY excited.

Directed by Ivan Reitman, the original 1984 film starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson and it was followed by Ghostbusters II five years later.
Feig, who directed Bridesmaids and The Heat, recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly: “Ghostbusters is such a great thing and everybody knows it.
“It’s a shame to just let this thing sit there. My favourite thing to do is work with funny women. I was like, what if it was an all female cast? That would be really fun” said Feig.
