They caught him just as he was trying to get out the door.
The cast of Hamilton, the Broadway phenomenon, made the most of their chance to speak directly to Vice President Elect Mike Pence on Friday night.
Pence had attended the show but just after the curtain, as he tried to leave, he was addressed directly by cast member Brandon Dixon who plays Aaron Burr in the musical.
“You know we have a guest in the audience this evening,” he began. “Vice President Elect Pence, I see you’re walking out but I hope you will hear us for just a few more moments.”
After telling the crowd not to boo, but to record the event and share it widely on social media, he told Pence that he had a message for him.
“I hope that you will hear us out.”

“We are the diverse America, who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us,” he announced, to wide applause, before delivering a powerful message to both Pence and Donald Trump, who is about to become the most powerful man in the world.
