Cops have arrested a woman whom they allege dressed as a clown and killed her future husband’s former wife more… than 27 years ago.
Sheila Keen Warren seemingly shot and killed Marlene Warren at her home in West Florida in May 1990. She was arrested in Virginia on September 26, 2017.
Detectives said that Mrs Warren was finishing breakfast with her son and some of his friends on the morning of May 26, 1990, when a white Chrysler LeBaron pulled into the driveway of her home.
It was then that someone who was dressed as a clown got out of the car, carrying two balloons and holding a flower arrangement.
When the mum answered the door of her West Florida home, detectives said the clown handed her the gifts – and then witnesses heard a gun-shot and Mrs Warren fell to the ground.
The “clown” calmly walked back to the car and drove away.
Mrs Warren sustained a gunshot wound to the face, and passed away in hospital two days later.
Detectives said that they had identified a suspect at the time, but an arrest was never made… until earlier this week.
The case was re-opened again in 2014, with witnesses being re-contacted and additional DNA analysis being carried out.
It was at that time that detectives learned Sheila Keen, who had previously been identified as a suspect, had married the victim’s husband 12 years after the killing.
The case was presented to a grand jury in late August 2017, where an arrest warrant was obtained for Sheila Warren.
She was arrested almost a month later on September 26, 2017 in Washington County, Virginia.
