A new gym has opened in Washington DC but its clientèle is strictly of the four-legged kind.

The Frolick Dogs Canine Sports Club is tailor-made for dogs, complete with treadmills, obstacle courses and doggie balancing balls and aims to tackle the issue of canine obesity.

Owner Kim Gillian told The Telegraph that she hope the facility would be a “safe, year-round environment where people could bring their dog”.

If you fancy getting your pet on a health kick, you’d want to start saving.

Annual membership at Frolick Dogs will set you back $700 (€520).
