Enda Kenny has been making the rounds on Irish media along with other party leaders prior to the election on Friday.
The Taoiseach and Fine Gael leader appeared on Ireland AM on TV3 this morning to discuss how the campaign has gone and had some interesting things to say about a possible referendum on repealing the 8th Amendment to the constitution to allow for free safe and legal abortion in the country.
He said that Fine Gael if re-elected would set up something akin to the Constitutional Convention to consider the matter.
‘Eighth Amendment is far too sensitive and profound to just say ‘Let’s have a referendum” @EndaKennyTD

According to a recent poll by The Irish Times, 64% of Irish people are in favour of repealing the amendment, so many on Twitter are criticising Kenny for avoiding the issue this morning.
Of course. Let’s just keep *talking* about it. Or ignoring it. Women will still have to travel. #repealthe8th https://t.co/4Vu8FjAZGf

But not too sensitive/profound to ignore for decades while women suffer for your cowardice? Charming. #Repealthe8th. https://t.co/9pzFCTup21

Disappointing once more from the leader of Fine Gael and the Labour Party. #repealthe8th #GE16 https://t.co/dUAk30bFv0
