Missing boy Alex Batty has been found alive in France after he disappeared six years ago.
Alex Batty went missing in 2017 when he was only 11 years old.
The young boy was on holiday with his mother Melania and grandfather David in Marbella, Spain.
The family was due to return home to Manchester after two weeks but they never did.
His grandmother believed they went to live ‘an alternative lifestyle’, but she was his legal guardian.
Alex’s grandmother, Susan Caruana cannot believe he has been found.
She shared a statement following the shocking news.
She told The Sun, “I am so happy. I have spoken to him and he is well.
"He is currently with the authorities in France. It is such a shock. I don’t know where his mum is. It is great news. I am just waiting for him to come home – I am thrilled,” she shared.
Alex reportedly turned himself in to police in France on Wednesday, December 13th.
French publication, Le Depeche reported:
“The Alex Batty mystery is about to be solved. Although he did not show any official document to the gendarmes who took him in, this young 17-year-old boy provided his identity on his own. His face and his story correspond in every way to that of the Briton kidnapped in 2017. This Thursday the Toulouse public prosecutor confirmed that it is indeed Alex Batty.”
Prosecutors in France believe Alex Batty escaped from a ‘spiritual’ community at the Pyrenees in France.
