Met Éireann’s latest forecast seems to have diminished any hope of a weekend filled with 20C heat and clear skies.
While some areas will reach 19C over the next few days, cloud and bursts of rain are likely to hamper outdoor plans.
According to the Irish forecasters, “the weekend will be quite cloudy overall, with rain and drizzle at times, although amounts will be low.”
They also predicted that things will be ”drier and sunnier early next week.”
As for today, conditions will be mostly cloudy with patches of mist and fog.
It’ll stay largely dry throughout the day with occasional sunny spells developing and highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees with a light northwesterly breeze.
Cloud will thicken in most areas tonight, bringing scattered patches of drizzle. Mist and fog will develop too with very light and variable winds and temperatures will dip to between 7 and 11 degrees.
Saturday
Tomorrow will be cloudy for most with patches of light rain, drizzle, and mist.
There will be more persistent outbreaks of rain developing in the west and northwest during the late afternoon and evening.
Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees in a light variable breeze.
Things will remain mostly cloudy come evening time, with outbreaks of rain in the west and northwest slowly tracking southeastwards and becoming lighter.
Patches of mist and fog will develop in light northerly or variable winds. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees.
Sunday
It’ll be mostly cloudy with scattered outbreaks of light rain and drizzle, although some brighter spells will develop in the afternoon and evening.
Highest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees in the north and 16 to 19 degrees in the south, with light northerly winds.
Conditions will be generally cloudy with outbreaks of light rain and drizzle in the evening – mainly in the south and east.
Lowest temperatures of 5 to 11 degrees, and will be coolest in the northwest, in a light north-to-northwest wind.
