Met Éireann say it’ll be gorgeous today but it’s going to take a turn tonight

We’ve been enjoying a few rain-free weeks.

And while it won’t be the worst we’ve seen tonight, Met Éireann has predicted that showers will be heavy in places, especially around coastal areas.

The weather forecaster said: “This morning will be dry in most areas with just a few showers in the west and north, the best of the sunshine in the south and east of the country.

“This afternoon, rain will develop along the south coast and spread northwards over much of Munster and south Leinster this evening bringing the odd thundery burst. Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees with light variable or easterly breezes.”

As for later on: “Cloudy and rather misty tonight with showery outbreaks of rain, heavy in places. However, it will hold mainly dry cross north Ulster. Lowest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees in mostly light northerly breezes.”

Tomorrow will be mostly the same with a few showers, but temperatures will still be in the high teens.

“Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers, merging to longer spells of rain at times. The showers will be heaviest and most frequent across the eastern half of the country with the best of any bright intervals in the west. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees with moderate north to northwest breezes.”
