Gardai called to a man’s Dublin apartment because a 30 inch snake was on the loose

YIKES.

We’d probably call an ambulance too, considering this would give us a genuine heart attack.

We’re used to finding the odd spider or moth in our homes, and while we’re not a big fan of them, we’d take them over a snake any day.

Diego Pastori, originally from Brazil, is currently renting an apartment in Patrick Street in Dublin.

Diego was getting ready for bed around 1am on Thursday last week, when he found a slithery surprise under his bed.

Speaking to the Irish Times, Diego said he was actually looking for spiders when he found the reptile.

“I was going to bed and I saw just a normal spider in my room. I was wondering because I had never seen a spider in this flat before and I’ve been living here for three years. I kept looking for more spiders in the bedroom, and when I pulled out my bed I just saw this yellow thing right beside it,” he said.

SNAKE

He initially thought that it was a practical joke by one of his housemates – but soon realised it was a genuine snake.

He decided to call the Gardaí to deal with the situation and even they were unsure of his claims. When they did arrive to the house, the were shocked to find a 75cm (30 inches) snake curled up in Diego’s bedroom.

While frightening to find, the snake was, thankfully, a non-venomous corn snake, that was most likely owned as a pet by someone living near to Diego.

The snake was captured using a wire clothes hanger and was then placed in a small cardboard box.

As it happened during the middle of the night, a specialist snake handler was not available at the time, which meant that the snake was reportedly kept in Garda custody until later in the morning.
