Cabinet were told earlier this week that Ireland’s virus levels were not yet “low enough” to considerably ease the measures in place ahead of May 5.
“The Taoiseach and Minister Harris briefed Cabinet on the national response to Covid-19,” read a statement issued by a Government spokesman on Monday.
“Cabinet heard that as of today, there are no indications that disease levels are low enough to enable any easing of restrictions on May 5th.”
The government has been considering the advice of the National Public Health Emergency Team regarding a plan on how to safely re-open the economy.
