Alex Murdaugh is fighting for a new trial

Netflix has become a trailblazer in the true crime genre, consistently captivating audiences with gripping murder documentary series.

‘The Murdaugh Murders’ is one such series on Netflix’s roster, contributing to the platform’s reputation for delivering compelling narratives surrounding real-life criminal investigations.

Viewers have glued to the story and trial of Alex Murdaugh since the series dropped on February 22, 2023.

In a recent court appearance, Mr. Murdaugh bid for a new trial for the double murder case of his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, due to allegations of jury tampering.

His request was rejected after a judge ruled that county clerk, Rebecca Hill’s actions did not influence the jury’s guilty verdict in 2021.

Murdaugh’s attorneys accused Hill of tampering with the jury to boost sales of her book related to the trial.

Although Hill’s comments were deemed “fleeting and foolish,” the judge concluded they did not impact the verdict.

While Murdaugh faces continued legal battles – including allegations of financial misconduct – his quest for a retrial was met with a setback.

The courtroom drama continues to unfold amid a complex web of legal challenges surrounding the infamous Murdaugh murders.
