Seven Ways To Make The Most Of Your Forbidden Fruit Weekend

Party on!

Her

As the saying goes…’fail to prepare, prepare to fail’ and this is definitely the case when it comes to festival season. Whether you want to fit in as many gigs as possible or soak up the atmosphere over the course of the weekend, there is more than enough at Forbidden Fruit to put you through your paces. Powered by Lucozade Energy, we’ve got some top tips to make sure you’re still going strong come Sunday night.

1) Choose your friends wisely

It’s not everyone that can handle the festival pace so make sure to choose the perfect crew for your weekend of fun. If they’re fond of the drama, will have to be brought home early in a state or think it’s ok to talk the whole way through our favourite band’s set, then you might want to forget to return their call.

2) An army marches on its stomach

Forget all that ‘eating is cheating’ lark. If you are going to make the most of the extensive line-up at Forbidden Fruit, then you’ll have to be at the top of your game so get a good feed before you head down and make the most of the wide selection of food stands on the day. Forget about calorie counting, you need those gorgeous burgers for energy!

3) Prepare for all eventualities

We live in Ireland and while there are many benefits to that, it also means that a bright sunny sky at 10am does not rule out a full blown hailstorm by 6pm. Always bring the essentials  – sun cream, a hat, a rain poncho, wellies and a pair of sunnies and nothing can spoil your fun! And don’t forget, taking a spare toilet roll in your bag will make you very popular as the evening progresses.

4) Pace yourself

With over 40 musical acts on three stages, a cracking comedy line-up and all the extras, Forbidden Fruit is a marathon not a sprint. While you might be excited about letting loose, take it easy on the alcohol and drink responsibly. Nobody wants to be the girl leaning over a Portaloo when The Flaming Lips come on.

5) Know your stuff

There is nothing more frustrating than discovering a great new band and then realising that they were playing at the festival you attended a few weeks ago. Have a chat with some musically astute friends for some tips on who to see and check out some of the lesser known acts on the line-up in advance to see if anything captures your attention. Our top tip? Take some time over the weekend to drop in on some of the gigs on the smaller stages – you might find a great act and it gives you a little break from the crowds near the Original Stage.

6) Make new friends

The atmosphere at festivals like Forbidden Fruit create the perfect opportunity to meet new friends so be open to chatting to a few randomers. You could end up having a laugh, making a new bud or finding the man of your dreams (you never know!).

7) Stay going

It’s fairly common to hit a wall of exhaustion halfway through Day Two but if you give in to the urge to head home for a nap, you’ll regret it later. If weather permits, have a sneaky lie-down in the shade, then get up, grab a coffee or an energy drink and party on!
