Meet Derrick Culpepper and his 3-year-old daughter Linda. Last year, Derrick uploaded a video to YouTube of him doing his daughter’s hair before school, all while she encouraged him in heart-melting fashion.
The clip has now gone viral again after it was re-shared on social media by the ‘Because Of Them We Can’ project.

Derrick explained his motivation for sharing the video on his YouTube channel, writing:
“A must-see to encourage dads. My family encourages me to be be the best dad that I can be, and I never get to catch these memories on video. I have been a barber pretty much all my life and still find it difficult to style my daughter’s hair. My 3-yr-old daughter keeps me encouraged when I attempt to do her hair.
“She has been listening to her mother Lakisha Culpepper, and I’m so thankful that she demonstrates godly encouragement for our kids to see and hear. Parents, our kids are listening. I decided to share this video because it got so much attention on my FB page and others are sharing. Hope it inspires other dads.”
The heart-warming father-daughter exchange is winning over a whole new set of fans.
Derrick told BuzzFeed:
“In this house we are real. We give hugs, we love, we have fun, and we give second chances. This is just how we live, and how we raise our kids to be encouraging to one another.”
