While we love a good trip across the seas, the reality is that we live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world so we decided to take a moment and appreciate some of the fantastic spots on this fair isle.
From Donegal to Dublin, we are taking an all-Ireland cyber roadtrip to find out what makes each county unique and highlight a few hidden gems that only the locals might know about.
This week, the spotlight is on the lovely country of Green and Red… Mayo.
They may have to endure year after year of disappointment in Croker but you’ll be hard pressed to find a Mayo person that isn’t fiercely passionate about their county.
The stunning Westport is a mecca for hen and stag parties but there’s much more to the town than that, with the beautiful Westport House and its annual music and food festival, as well as a wide range of restaurants and bars to keep you entertained. If you’re feeling energetic, you can tackle Croagh Patrick or a spot of fishing on the River Moy, or pay a visit to Knock Shrine.
The county is home to several fabulous spa hotels (check out The Lodge At Ashford Castle and The Ice House), the picturesque Achill Island and The Great Irish Greenway.
But the locals know it better than we ever could, so here’s what they had to say!
