We all shed a tear watching the news last night.
Bryan Dobson officially signed off on RTÉ’s Six One for the last time and it’s fair to say it got us all right in the feels.
Looking forward to his new role on Radio One’s Morning Ireland, he thanked the team at RTÉ. We all looked away, dabbed our eyes with a hanky and thanked him for his years of glorious service.
“I hate to go, but I’m afraid I have to leave. So thank you, and goodnight.” Bryan Dobson signs off Six One. https://t.co/j554wS8fDm pic.twitter.com/tu9plhUVoO

In the wake of Dobbo’s departure, one reader got in touch and shared photos of one of the oddest and most brilliant birthday cakes we’ve ever seen.
Behold, the Bryan Dobson cake.
“It’s always been a running joke that I loved Bryan Dobson and thought it would be funny, which I think it was,” Becky Power told Her.
“I watched the Six One every day to see him and I’m heartbroken that he’s gone.”
Needless to say, the cake, made by Cupcake Couture in Waterford, was a hit.
“People loved it! I put all the things I loved on it, so there’s a unicorn and a thing of garlic mayo on it as well!”
Garlic mayo and a national treasure – sure, what more could you ask for?
