This would be a BIG help.
It looks like the public transport system in Dublin is set to get a big overhaul in the coming years.
According to reports, there are plans for four more Luas lines and a second Metro line as part of a plan to reduce traffic in the capital city.
The Irish Independent has reported that the National Transport Authority (NTA) will reveal details later today (Thursday) about a €10 billion plan to help to improve the roads and public transport system in a bid to increase sustainable forms of transport in the next 20 years.
It is believed that the plan will propose a second Metro line to run from St. Stephen’s Green to Bride’s Glen that should link with the proposed Metro line to Dublin Airport.
Other topics in the plan are said to include a proposal to extend Luas services to Finglas, Bray, Lucan and Poolbeg/Ringsend, and to extend the DART to Maynooth, Hazelhatch and Drogheda.
More frequent bus services and improved cycle networks are also said to be part of the multi-billion euro plan, which is subject to public consultation until November 13th.
