We are warning you right now. If you are any way squeamish or have any kind of fear of spiders, we would advise you to look away right now and not read the rest of this article.

According to the BBC, scientists are now reporting that certain species of spider are now catching fish. Yes, they are now catching fish.

The species in question lives near the water and in some cases, is using powerful poisons to kill fish much bigger than them, according to the academic journal Plos One which published the study.

The study found that the spiders typically dwell near shallow freshwater. Some are capable of swimming, diving and walking on the water’s surface. Yes, that’s what they found. They can walk on the surface of the water.

“Our evidence suggests that fish might be an occasional prey item of substantial nutritional importance,” said Dr Nyffeler who worked on the study.

The spider normally anchors itself while raising its front legs ready to pounce on its prey. When it catches the fish, it pulls it from the shore and to a safe place where it feeds for several hours.

We’re just going to go cry in the corner.
