Tasty Treats You Won’t Feel Guilty About Eating

Want to eat healthily but can't stop feeding that sweet tooth of yours? Join the club! Here are some snacks that you can enjoy without the guilt.

Rebecca McKnight

You’ve just made a cup of tea. You’ve had a long day. You’re just dying for a little something to pick up your mood and energy levels.

We have just the thing. Her.ie are bringing you ten tasty treats, yes we did say treats, which will give you all the satisfaction without any of the guilt.

  1. McVitie’s Rich Tea (39 calories) – We thought we should kick-off with a classic. The Rich Tea biscuit is just that and better still it is made for tea-dipping. Despite being plain, it really hits the spot. The only problem we have is eating just one with our afternoon cuppa!
  2. Tuc (24 calories) – The perfect accompaniment for your lunch and at only 24 calories you could have two Tuc crackers and still consume less than 50 calories. What more could you want?
  3. Cadbury’s Snack (42 calories) – While you could only have one piece of shortbread to stick to the quoted calorie count, it would be so worth it. Also, one packet would last you all week: yummy and cost-effective!
  4. Marks and Spencer Brownie Bites (45 calories) – Show me a person that would turn down a brownie and I’ll show you someone who’s out of their mind. We just love the miniature brownies M&S do but we do have to lock the tub away once we’ve taken one!
  5. Tesco Ginger Nut (36 calories) – A plain biscuit with a kick of ginger goodness, the Ginger Nut will give you the sugar rush you need to get through the day. While not one of our personal favourites, it does the job.
  6. Crawford’s Custard Creams (57 calories) – We love custard. We love cream. We love biscuits. Put all three together and we’re in heaven! Custard Creams are great to have by yourself watching Neighbours or with the girls during a good aul chinwag.
  7. Ritz Original (16 calories) – Another savoury snack, the Ritz original cracker has one of the lowest calorie counts out there. We know we shouldn’t but we’ll be munching three of these at lunchtime!
  8. Garibaldi Biscuit (40 calories) – Packed full of currants the Garibaldi Biscuit is the ideal partner for your cup of tea or coffee. Get down to your local Tesco, get a packet and get dunking!
  9. McVitie’s Jaffa Cake (45 calories) – Whichever method you use to eat one, and let’s face it everyone has a method, the Jaffa Cake is simply delicious. Spongy biscuit, orange jelly and a layer of chocolate: perfection!
  10. Maryland Chocolate Chip Cookie (56 calories) – Despite havingone of the highest calorie counts on our list, we would argue that the Maryland Chocolate Chip Cookie is worth it. Keep in mind that ‘reduced fat’ ones are also available. Nah, we’ll stick to the good ones too!

(Please note that calorie counts are per biscuit and will vary depending on brand)

So the next time you’re feeling a bit peckish and want something tasty to munch on without feeling bad, reach for one of these. Anybody putting the kettle on?
