Seven MTV shows that NEED to come back to our screens like straight away

The best of the BEST.

Denise Curtin

Who remembers the golden era of MTV?

I’m talking 2004 to 2010, back when the shows were varied and not all based around a group of people getting with each other in a villa. I remember spending my evenings not flicking to any other channel besides MTV as my time was spent watching everything from Room Raiders to The Hills.

Recently, as I was watching TV with my friends, I saw an advert for Jesery Shore Family Vacation, now although I was not thrilled to see this return, it did make me think about all the deadly programmes that honestly do need a reprisal. Basically my entire youth from age 10 to 16-years-old.

Want to take a trip down memory lane?

Here are seven MTV shows that I am demanding make a return.

MTV Cribs

“Yo MTV welcome to my crib…”, from Richard Branson’s island to Shaquille O’Neal’s monstrous bed, this series needs to come back ASAP. There are so many new celebs on the scene and this show was the only proper way of creeping their homes. We need to see what kind of gaff Zara Larsson and Ed Sheeran live in and we need to see it now. Also, remember when they used to “kick out the viewer” at the end of the tour, ah the best.

This one with Hulk Hogan is a golden oldie.

Room Raiders

I won’t lie I was obsessed with this one, there is nothing that my pre-teen self loved more than sitting and bitching while dissecting the room of someone else.

Remember the time Zac Efron was on it? I remember watching this weak at the knees and now looking back, he was literally 15-years-old on this…

Next

A show so harsh yet so good, Next followed one contestant going on a series of blind dates with possibly up to five other single people, known as “the daters”. The daters were secluded on a RV referred to as the “Next Bus” but the added twist that the date could end at any time by the contestant shouting “next”. At the end of the date the contestant then chose whether they wanted to bag the cash or bag the date. SALT.

Date My Mom

This show only lasted two years after its debut, so I think it surely deserves a return. This dating show sends singles on dates with three moms who try to convince them to pick their son or daughter to date. The dater only meets the mother and then makes his or her decision solely on the mothers and their descriptions of their children.

This fail moment was my ultimate fave.

MADE

This one used to pull on the heart strings. MADE followed teens who have a goal and wanted to be “made” into things like singers, athletes, dancers, skateboarders, etc.. The teens were joined by a “Made Coach”, who was an expert in their chosen field as well as MTV’s camera crew who used to follow them as they tried to attain their goals over the course of several weeks. Quite the emotional rollercoaster.

This is part of one of the first ever episodes which aired in 2004.

Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica

Now I know this cannot come back *sigh*, but oh how I wish it could. Nick and Jess were like our Kardashians before they really made their E! impact and before social media existed.

Laguna Beach – The Real Orange County

What a classic. Everyone who had MTV back in 2004 became instantly hooked on Laguna Beach. The show followed the personal lives of wealthy students attending Laguna Beach High School in the glamorous seaside town and WHAT a show it was. If you didn’t fall head over heels for Stephen, you weren’t living.

Here is a YouTube montage we found that makes us want to go back and binge watch the entire series.

MTV you need to make them like this again. The best.
