Sad News: Irish Actress Eileen Colgan Passes Away

Tributes have begun for the Fair City actress.

Irish Actress, Eileen Colgan, best known for her roles in RTÉ’s Fair City and Glenroe, has passed away. 

Colgan, who began her career in Dublin theatre, has appeared in some of the country’s most famous television and film productions.

The actress most recently played Esther Roche in the Fair City and starred in Ballykissangel, Angela’s Ashes, My Left Foot and Far and Away. 

She will also be remembered for her role as Mynah in Glenroe.

Tributes from friends and colleagues have begun, with agent for over 20 years, Lisa Richards, saying: “She was a joy to work with. Warm, spirited and a constant mother to everyone.  We will miss her tremendously”.

Head of RTÉ Drama Jane Gogan said: “Eileen was a great professional and will be sadly missed by those of us who were fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to know her and work with her.

“In the highly demanding world of Fair City Eileen was an inspiration to those she worked with. She will be greatly missed by cast and crew.”

Eileen is survived by four children Katy, Cathal, Ben and Clara and her eight grandchildren.
