They're from a Spanish company and the appearance of them is somewhat offputting, but apparently there's a sound scientific reason for the design...
It comes from the Spanish expression “tocarse las pelotas” which literal translation is “play with your own balls”, and really means “to be a lazy” or ”take a rest”.
"Its suspension rate generates an Euclidean curve [which] relaxes and provides those seconds of escape that we all need from time to time," say the inventors.
