Kelis, the woman who taught us that the word ‘milkshake’ is a double entendre, has said that she wants to launch her own range of cooking sauces. Yes, you read that right.
While most celebrities would prefer to have their own clothing line or a slew of beauty products named after them, Kelis wants people to get back into their kitchens and rediscover the world of cooking by using her sauces.
Now, we know what you’re thinking – surely this is just a way for Kelis to make a quick buck.
Maybe, but did you know that the singer is actually a qualified culinary chef? Yep, it’s true! In fact, during her music hiatus over the past few years, Kelis used her time wisely and decided to go back to school to become a chef. So not only is she an award-winning musician, she’s also a fully-fledged chef. You have to admire her for it ladies, don’t you?
Kelis has admitted that there’s nothing she loves more than bustling around her kitchen and cooking up a storm and she has described herself as being a bit of a “homebody.”
“I love lifestyle stuff, I love housewares. I’m really a homebody, honestly. Anything to do with my kitchen, or my house, I’m all about it. I’m working on a sauce line, so that’s kind of exciting. I’m a saucier,” she said, speaking to NME Magazine recently.
And as well as sticking her name to a new range of sauces, Kelis is also halfway through writing her new album. According to reports, Kelis’ new record is set to be all about the electro and a little deeper and darker than what we’re used to.
So a new album, a new range of sauces and, if rumours are to be believed, her own cooking programme on TV – it seems that things are looking up for the singer.
We’ll be honest and say that we sort of love the idea of a Kelis cookery show. Could you just imagine her screaming “I hate you so much right now!!!” when she has to chop up a few onions? Brilliant.
