KBC Bank Will Not Pursue Stephanie Meehan Over Priory Hall Mortgage Debt

The bank released a statement this evening.

Stephanie Meehan received a letter from KBC Bank just days after speaking openly about how her beloved partner, Fiacra Daly took his own life, an action she blames severe financial pressures for.

In a statement this evening KBC Bank said that they will no longer pursue Meehan for the €17,000 owed on the property she and her partner purchased for their family.

Father-of-two Fiacra took his own life on July 15th due to financial strain.

The Dublin complex was deemed uninhabitable after a series of fire safety breaches and over sixty families were evacuated, back in October 2011. Since then, Priory Hall residents have been forced to pay off large mortgages and debt for homes they cannot live in.

In the statement KBC Bank said that it, “acknowledges that any residual amount due on the mortgage was irrecoverable.”

“KBC will not be pursuing Stephanie Meehan or the estate of the late Fiachra Daly for any residual balance due on the mortgage,” it continued.”

“KBC has spoken with Stephanie Meehan’s financial advisor this afternoon and advised them of the bank’s decision in this specific case.”

“KBC deeply regrets if the bank added further to the upset of Ms. Meehan and her family following the passing of Fiachra Daly.”

The mother-of-two gave a courageous and extremely moving interview with Tubridy on Friday night’s Late Late and issued a plea to Taoiseach, Enda Kenny to sort the injustice and legacy issues that has been ongoing, once and for all.

The mother of two promised she would not let Fiacra’s death be in vain.
