A new survey from Irish Life has revealed that 94% of Irish people have thanked the bus driver along with loads of other quirky facts today.

The survey also revealed that 74% of us have asked taxi drivers if they are having a busy night, while more than half of us make tea when faced with a crisis.

Meanwhile, one in every five Irish people have smuggled sausages abroad, while 40% of us check someone’s social media before we go on a date.

Five per cent of us had our first kiss in the Gaeltacht, while only 21% of us are friends with our poor old mammies on Facebook.

Over half of the population can pull a pint, while over half of Irish parents also think the kids in their family are smarter than the average child.

Only 29% of the population have been to Coppers in Dublin, with 39% of people saying that they have had ‘the fear’.

Even more curious, one in five people feel like they know Anne Doyle (yes, the newsreader), while 40% of Irish people clap when a plane lands.

Other fun facts include that 24% of people have tried online dating, 80% of Irish people have eaten a crisp sandwich (not surprising – yum!) while 13% of us have an embarrassing middle name and 20% of us will never wear the colour of their school uniform again.
