Five Reasons You Ought to Try Online Shopping

It's as easy as one, two, three. We're talking about online shopping of course. Here's why it can be better than heading to the shops.

Rebecca McKnight

There’s nothing we love more than scouring the shops for bargains and walking home with a dozen bags in each hand a la Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City.

But sometimes we have to dessert our inner SJP to do the less glamorous activity of shopping online. And to be completely honest it has saved us a lot of hassle and embarrassment in the past, not to mention being kind to your purse.

Here is why we do and why you should give it a go…

  1. Like us, you may not always have the time to go into the city or local town. If you work five days a week and are too busy on the weekends to traipse into the shops, online shopping is the way to go. All you have to do is switch on your laptop. And it doesn’t matter if you need food or a completely new wardrobe because you can get it all via the internet. Sorted!
  2. The best thing about online shopping is that you don’t even have to go anywhere to collect it. It gets delivered straight to your front door, unless of course you’re out in which case you would have to run to the post office to collect it. Still, in principle, it’s the lazy girl’s way to shop and at Her.ie we occasionally like to be lazy.
  3. More often than not you get more variety online than what you get in store. If there is something you need that you don’t see in store, try visiting the shop’s website. This also comes in handy if the shop doesn’t have your size in stock. Next time you can’t find exactly what you want, head home and check online.
  4. Sometimes shopping online is cheaper than going into the shops. Of course it all depends on what you’re buying and where you’re buying it from. It also stops you from buying that cup of coffee between shops. But don’t abandon that tradition completely, we like to take a break during our online shopping sprees for a cup of tea.
  5. Contrary to what you might think, you don’t lose out on return and refund policies by shopping online. Again it all depends on the site and product but more often than not, you get the same policies. Just make sure you check and open every package very carefully as they usually demand the original packaging back. We’ve been caught out with that before!

Imagine thinking the internet was just for Facebook stalking and reading the latest entertainment gossip. Well now you know, you can easily shop from the comfort of your own sofa. Guess what we’ll be doing tonight when all the shops are closed!
