Some of these are quite surprising.

Suddenly our spring clean is looking a lot more appealing.

Spring is finally just around the corner and we will soon be happily waving goodbye to the winter months.

With February comes the dreaded spring clean, but after reading this list of calorie busting household tasks we are almost looking forward to it…almost.

According to Shape, a few of our everyday household tasks are actually fantastic for burning calories.

They used a person weighing 150 pounds (about 10 1/2 stone) to calculate just how many calories you could be burning around the house without even realising it.

We have to say that we are pleasantly surprised. Here are some of the top hitters.

Vacuuming

Depending on the size of your home, vacuuming can be a great way to exercise. Apparently vacuuming for just 30 minutes can burn as many as 119 calories. We will never complain about tackling the stairs ever again.

Mopping

Well, once that floor is vacuumed to perfection it is going to need a nice wash, isn’t it? Before you start moaning, did you know that mopping for a measly hour will shed 153 calories? It suddenly seems worthwhile.

Cleaning windows

It might not be something that you do every week but when you do decide to give your windows a bit of a spring clean your body will thank you for it. Washing your windows can burn 167 calories in just 60 mins.

Redecorating

Thinking of giving your bedroom a new lick of paint? It could be great for your mind and your body too. A bit of redecorating can shred a mammoth 167 calories in 30 minutes. Pass me that paint brush!

Of course, these figures all depend on your weight and how long you are doing each of the tasks for. Still, it makes us feel a little bit less guilty about skipping the gym this morning (and every day this week).

A brand new Power has arrived! Introducing the new Blizzard CX1, the first bagless vacuum cleaner from Miele.
