A Salon, a Bake-Off and a Return to Tallafornia – TV3 Launches Autumn Schedule

Get comfy on that couch - here's what's happening on TV3 this autumn.

Many of Irish television’s most famous faces were in attendance at the Lighthouse Cinema, Smithfield, this afternoon for the launch of TV3’s autumn schedule.

Ben Frow, Programme Director at the station, talked guests through a host of returning shows and new arrivals set to air on TV3 over the coming months. So what can we look forward to?

Tallafornia is back, and there’s a Christmas special on the way too – Talleluia. No, really. FYI, we’ve seen a preview and this series includes full-frontal nudity. You have been warned…

No more ‘house’, it’s just called Dublin Wives now. Dr. Botox and co. are back for more on-camera bitching and back-stabbing in Dublin’s fair city.

Botched beauty horror stories ahead no doubt, with the return of Celebrity Salon to our screens. TV3’s own Glenda Gilson is one of the contestants this time around, alongside Nadia Forde and Julian Simmons.

Think of the Dallas theme tune. Now, it’s stuck in your head – and it’s staying there. Sorry. Dallas is back, and TV3 will have it first in Europe. Jesse Metcalfe is reason enough to give this one a go.

The Great Irish Bake Off. This is possibly the highlight of the entire schedule for us. If it’s even half as good as GBBO then it’s still on to a winner. Presented by Anna Nolan and Biddy White-Lennon.

TV3 turns a hand to a home-produced drama for the first time with Deception, a six-part drama starring Leigh Arnold, that ‘presents a view of post-Celtic Tiger Ireland’.

They’re also having a go at comedy, with couples counseling the subject matter for On The Couch, starring Barbara Bergin and Gary Crooke.

Loving Irish Mams and Dads might want to look away now. Sex and the Gaeltacht is one of the documentaries heading for our screens this autumn on TV3, no prizes for guessing what that one’s about.

Irish travellers are the focus of a whole host of TV3 programmes this season, including The Town The Travellers Took Over, where journalist Paul Connolly spends time in the ‘spiritual home’ of Ireland’s travellers, Rathkeale, County Limerick.

Ireland’s Ultimate Debutant 2012 will follow teens across the country in the lead-up to that all-important night. The dresses, the tuxedos, the make-up, the cars – it’s all going to be on show. We’re just thankful this type of thing wasn’t around when we had our debs, the pics are bad enough…

Will you be tuning in?
