The most popular baby names for 2013 have been revealed!

Emily and Jack topped the polls according to the Central Statistics (CSO) figures that were released yesterday.

Jack has been in the top five boys’ names since 1998 and Emily has retained top spot for the third year running.

Also in the top five for girls were Emma, Sophie, Ella and Amelia. On the boys’ list, Jack James, Daniel, Conor and Sean are on the ticket, with very little change in order since 2012.

So it looks like though we are massive fans of TV shows like Game of Thrones, we haven’t yet jumped on the bandwagon of calling our kids Khaleesi and Arya (In 2012, 146 parents in the US named their daughters after the Queen of Dragons on the HBO show).

According to the Irish Times, the most exotic names that they could spot on our list were Kai and Kayden who made their way into the top 100 for the first time.

They also noted that “Ryan” was seen as the most popular name for baby boys from Cavan while Waterford City opted for “Aaron”.
