Kate Hudson explains what she means by the term ‘genderless’ parenting

Kate Hudson has explained what she meant be the term "genderless" parenting since a lot of people seemed to jump to a whole load of conclusions about the term. The mother-of-three was asked recently whether raising a girl was any different to raising two boys. She responded by saying that she opted to take a "genderless approach" because each child is different, irrespective of whether they are born a boy or a girl. "We still don’t know what she’s going to identify as," she explained to AOL.

"I will say that, right now, she is incredibly feminine in her energy, her sounds and her way. It’s very different from the boys, and it’s really fun to actually want to buy kids’ clothes. "With the boys it was just like onesies… actually, I did pretty good with the boys. "But with her it’s a whole other ball game. There’s some stuff that I’m like, 'I can’t do that to her, because it’s so over-the-top.'"

Taking to Instagram, she explained that suggesting such was "silly" and that rather, she is raising her children "to feel free to be exactly who they want to be." "Me saying a 'genderless approach" was a way of re focusing the conversation in a direction that could exist outside of the female stereotype," she said.

"It just felt a little antiquated to me. Not all girls want to be a princess, some want to be king. And that's fine by me. "I recognize some want to take the headline earnestly as if I have some new age method of raising my kids and I really do hate disappointing people but, I don't. "I just try to raise my kids to be good people with the best tools to face this big crazy world."
