There’s a Love Island ‘it is what it is’ drinking game and yeah, you’d be in bits

Don’t try this at home.

“It is what it is…” he said, sighing heavily, pretending not to care, when in reality, he cared very much.

And so the rest of Love Island will continue, as the lads carry on using the above phrase to death, safely securing it as a catchphrase but also rendering it completely meaningless.

“It is what it is” has been said so many times over the past few days that it has become the unofficial line of the series.

Sherif said it when he didn’t get picked. Anton said it when Lucie didn’t want to get with him. Joe said it through gritted teeth while huffing and puffing when Tommy stole his girl.

It’s all kicking off, and viewers at home are making absolutely sure they’re getting in on the fun too… by suggesting an “it is what it is” drinking time.

And yeah, it would pretty much fuck you up.

Twitter user Ellie Bright shared the inspired idea during last night’s instalment of the show, saying: “New game: take a shot every time someone says “it is what it is”.”

Dangerous. Especially for a Wednesday night.

The Love Island social team even got involved themselves to shoot the idea down, clearly not wanting to be responsible for any untimely deaths on their watch.

Or on Sherif’s, who just won’t bloody stop saying “it is what it is.”

‘Wouldn’t recommend it,” they wrote, quote tweeting Ellie’s suggestion and absolutely not encouraging anybody to drink themselves into oblivion for the remaining seven weeks.

Good advice, in fairness.

Now, where are the shot glasses?
