Lily Allen had some harsh things to say about Honey G

She didn't hold back.

Yikes!

Lookit, there is a lot of anger around Honey G. People believe that she is taking the place of a more deserved contestant on The X Factor. Take our very own Janet Grogan who missed out a place on the live final when Honey G made it through.

Janet is clearly more talented and so are many other singers but yet Honey G is still in the competition four weeks into the live shows. And with the rate she’s going she will sail through Saturday night’s show too.

While a lot of people have been quick to complain it seems Lily Allen has just about had enough of the nonsense and is giving her opinion on the situtation and it ain’t pretty.

She thinks that Honey G is “wrong on so many levels”.

She joined Annie Mac on her BBC Radio 1 show to talk about cultural appropriation in the music industry. According to The Guardian, when asked about Honey G, she said:

“As far as I can tell she is a white lady, in her late 30’s, that sort of dresses up in Ali G, Goldie Lookin Chain kind of attire.

“She has done really well on X Factor and ITV is pouring money into her. I’m not black but I find it offensive. So wrong on so many levels, I can’t even start to talk about it.”

She went on to say that she was accused of cultural appropriation with one of her songs, Hard Out Here, in 2013 but said that she had a very different objective with that song and wanted to come from a feminist stance instead of offending people. She added:

“I really want to write politically motivated songs, but they sound really earnest and preachy. I would make them if I thought they would be good and catchy, but where I haven’t succeeded in getting these messages across in my music I get them across through my social media platform.”
