First Dates Ireland are looking for extra people to take part

Want to be in the background on the show? Now's your chance.

Laura Holland

If you wanted to be on First Dates Ireland but didn’t want your first date to be featured on TV, then now is your chance.

First Dates Ireland was by far the most popular reality show on Irish TV this year. It gripped the nation every week it was on and provided some very entertaining TV, along with some funny Twitter commentary too.

The show centres around people going on first dates and while they have already been looking for a new batch of singletons to take part in the next series, they’re now looking for extra people.

The production company behind the show have put out a fresh call out for anyone interested in taking part as the “background daters”, which literally does what it says, you will be featured in the background as the main dates are being filmed.

I always thought that the extra people were dates that weren’t interesting enough to make it to TV but apparently they have a specific role too.

As they’ve said, you will “experience the First Dates restaurant without the pressure of being featured on the programme.” You will still be treated to a date with someone else but you just won’t be talking on camera or singled out.

You can find the application form here.

From the information you give you will be matched with another background dater applicant based on your likes, dislikes and the information you supply in our application.

Best of luck!
