American Idol winner Phillip Phillips is engaged to his long-term girlfriend Hannah Blackwell after five years together.
The 2012 American Idol winner took to his Facebook and Twitter accounts to share the news, posting a snap of the couple with the ring captioned:
“My best Christmas surprise is happening. We’re engaged yall!”
The couple met when they were volunteering at a women and children’s shelter back in 2009.
Tweeting about the engagement, Hannah said:
“He was a little more nervous asking for our 1st date ha!”
Phillips won series 11 of the American reality singing competition, and has since released two studio albums.
