Her “Favourite Things” show was an annual Oprah institution involving grown women screaming, crying and jumping up and down clapping their hands like demented seals as Oprah revealed her favourite gadgets, toys, cosmetics and luxury items and gave each member of the audience the item after she finished raving about it.
And the beauty of it was that audience members didn’t know they were attending the taping of the show until Oprah took to the stage! Think the Late Late ‘there’s one for everyone in the audience’ and multiply it by a zillion.
Although there was no “Favourite Things” show last Christmas, this year Oprah decided to honour military spouses and so returned to the much loved format and gifted the audience with a host of goodies including a Tory Burch handbag, a Bose HD TV, Michael Kors high-tops and much, much more including the ultimate surprise of an all expenses paid five-night trip for two to Fiji’s Namale Resort & Spa.

Explaining her decision, the generous host told the audience “many people here never had a honeymoon” and she wanted to give them a stress-free rest and relaxation break they deserved. “There’s nobody in the world more deserving of a day like you’re about to have,” Winfrey told the group before the gifting began. She honoured them for “the work and the sacrifice and the love and the care and the vision that you hold … for every life you touch.”
The Namale Resort & Spa looks like paradise!
It’s been our life’s ambition to go on the “Favourite Things” show (yes, we are that greedy and shallow) so only hope that O keeps taping these giveaway shows just incase by some miracle we actually manage to bag ourselves much coveted tickets!
