Actor James Garner, known for his roles in The Notebook and The Rockford Files, died in his home in Los Angeles on Saturday evening.
According to reports from TMZ, an ambulance was dispatched to the actor’s home, but he was dead on arrival.
Although the cause of death is unknown, Garner had been experiencing declining health following a stroke in 2008.
Garner was known for his roles on both the big and the small screen, most famously playing the role of Ryan Gosling’s older character Duke in romantic hit The Notebook, and playing the grandfather in TV show 8 Simple Rules from 2003 to 2005.
