People are NOT happy.
The London Film Critic Circle were announcing the nominations for this year’s awards and have included Saoirse Ronan, Colin Farrell and Michael Fassbender in ‘British’ categories.
We’re all for them winning awards in Britain, but they’re IRISH.
So they began with the British Actor of The Year announcement with the following:
British Actor of the Year – the nominees are – Michael Caine; Idris Elba; Colin Farrell; Michael Fassbender and Tom Hardy

They then went on to announce the females in this category:
The nominees for British Actress of the Year are…#londoncritics

Emily Blunt; Carey Mulligan; Charlotte Rampling; Saoirse Ronan and Kate Winslet

After quite a lot of backlash on Twitter, they were forced to make somewhat of a crap attempt at explaining themselves.
Note that our local categories have been renamed this year as British/Irish, celebrating the film industry that spans Ireland and the UK.

Thank you, we’ll take that.
