Ryan Tubridy has posted another video online, this time offering advice to the over 60,000 students receiving their Leaving Cert results on Friday (25 August).

Earlier in the week, the former RTÉ Radio 1 host – who it was recently confirmed would not be returning to the broadcaster following a controversy surrounding his salary – published a cryptic clip to Instagram in which he teased “a new dawn, a new day, a new beginning”.

And now he has released another video on the social media platform in which he reminds students that if they did not get the points in the exams that they wanted, that they should  “not worry”.

He says in the clip:

“Leaving Cert people of Ireland, if you got what you wanted in your points and results, congratulations. You did well.

“If you didn’t, don’t worry. This is the most important part because it’s something in the cosmos, the universe, who knows, nudging you somewhere where you weren’t expecting to be.

“Now, take it from somebody who knows about this a little bit, the old guy. If that happens, embrace it, run into it, and take it somewhere exciting and interesting because that’s where you were obviously meant to be, okay?

“So, don’t panic. Take it on. Remember, family and perspective – more important than any points in the whole world.

“Now, go and have some fun tonight, and then get on with the rest of your life and have fun getting there. Well done.”

Tubridy’s video follows the State Examinations Commission (SEC) revealing that this year’s iteration of paper one of the Leaving Cert Higher Maths exam was marked more leniently.

It stated that the alteration to the marking scheme came as a result of some students and media commentary suggesting that the first part of the maths test was “too difficult”.
