Ryan Tubridy seems to have a new job – at least according to his Instagram posts.

The former Late Late Show host is packing his bags and heading to Clifden, county Galway, in a few weeks to turn on the Christmas lights as a guest of honour.

Clifden’s Christmas festival takes place over the course of three weekends and Tubs is set to make an appearance to kick off the fun.

It might not be a return to TV or radio just yet, as many of his fans would have expected, it’s still a nice place to start.

There are tonnes of activities for families during the celebrations such as card making, face painting, children’s choir and a children’s hip hop class.

Rumour has it there will even be an appearance by the man himself, Santa, as well as a Christmas market.

Although Ryan has yet to reveal any of his more permanent gigs after his departure from RTE, there have been rumblings about a possible move to the UK in the near future.

According to Extra, the popular presenter is expected to announce a new deal with Virgin Radio, a station owned by Wireless Group – a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp.

If Ryan does move to the UK it will mark the beginning of a potential return to Irish airwaves as the Wirelesss Group oversees both Q102 in Dublin and 96FM in Cork.

It comes after he was let go from RTÉ following revelations of undisclosed payments totalling €345,000.

Since that scandal rocked the nation, Tubs has visited a number of radio stations in the UK, including Virgin Radio.

Extra reports that he and his team are in the final stages of negotiations with Virgin over the deal.
