Ryan Tubridy confirms new job with Virgin Radio in London

For months, speculation has mounted as to what would be next for the presenter following his departure from RTÉ last summer after the payments scandal.

In a video post on Instagram on Thursday (November 16th), Tubridy teased the announcement with the caption on the clip reading: "Some big news incoming…"

In a statement, he said: "I couldn't be more excited to start this new chapter with Virgin Radio.

"New city, new station, new beginnings. I love radio and what a joy to be following the legendary Chris Evans every morning. It’s been a pleasure getting to know my new friends at Virgin Radio, all of whom have been warm, engaging and very entertaining.

"And big thanks to the London Irish who have made me feel so welcome in recent weeks. On a personal note, this is a big day for my wonderful family who I hope to make proud, and also the people who advised me so well recently and got me to this moment."

He will helm the mid-morning show on Virgin Radio from 10 am to 1 pm Monday to Friday from early January.

Ryan left RTÉ earlier this year after controversy surrounding undisclosed payments to the broadcaster.

The former Late Late Show host still has work to do in Ireland before he packs his bags completely for his new adventure.

Taking to Instagram recently, the ex-RTÉ presenter told his fans that he will be turning on the Christmas lights in his "favourite town" of Clifton, Galway.

He wrote in his post: “Big job to do in a few weeks’ time as the good people of Clifden, Co. Galway have invited me to switch on their Christmas lights on Friday, November 24th at 6 pm.

“I’m honoured! Any excuse to get back to my favourite town? Up to the attic now to dig out a jumper,” he said.
