“Nobody ever says a thing about men’s bodies”
Billie Eilish has opened up about the level of criticism women face for their bodies and says it encouraged her decision to wear baggy clothes.
The singer also argued that men don’t face any comparative pressure about their bodies because “women are nice”.
In an interview with Variety, Eilish explained that being a woman is “such a war”, “especially being a young woman in the public eye. It’s really unfair.”
Billie, who’s just 21 and already worth around $30 million, also went into detail about her fashion choices and how she “wasn’t strong enough” to expose her body and face the criticism.
She said: “I wasn’t trying to have people not sexualise me. But I didn’t want people to have access to my body, even visually.
“I wasn’t strong enough and secure enough to show it.”
Billie said she was would’ve been devastated if people made comments on her body – but she’s argued that men don’t face the same scrutiny at all.
She explained: “Nobody ever says a thing about men’s bodies.
“If you’re muscular, cool. If you’re not, cool. If you’re rail thin, cool. If you have a dad bod, cool. If you’re pudgy, love it!
“Everybody’s happy with it. You know why? “Because girls are nice.
“They don’t give a f**k because we see people for who they are!”
