Here’s what Arnold from Hey Arnold! looks like and our minds are blown

Keeley Ryan

Remember the classic Nickelodeon cartoon Hey Arnold?

The lead character, (somewhat) affectionally dubbed football-head, had wild yellow hair and was never seen without his baseball cap.

But it turns out the voice actor, who also played Wolfgang and Jaques on the show, couldn’t look further from his cartoon alter-ego.

Lane Toran, who is also known as Toran Caudell, played Arnold in the popular 90’s Nickelodeon cartoon for around 40 episodes.

He explained how his time as the show’s lead was cut slightly short, as the role had to be switched up once his voice changed.

He said on Instagram:

“I know I don’t talk about ‘Hey Arnold’ on here so some of you that have been following me for a while might not know, but I did voice ‘Arnold’ for all of season 1 (until my voice changed).

“It’s crazy to be a part of something that’s still talked about and watched 20 years later.”

And while he won’t be back as Arnold for the second movie – yes, there’s a second movie – Lane will be playing Wolfgang, the leader of the fifth grade bullies.

The actor and musician previously told ABC News who the popular cartoon series was his first ever voice over audition.

He said:

“‘Hey Arnold’ was actually my first audition for voice over.

“It came out at a time when I was watching cartoons myself, and I was just as excited myself to watch.”

He went on to do a lot more voice over work, including playing King Bob on Recess and Tripod in the 101 Dalmatians TV series.

He stopped doing voice over work when he was “17 or 18” so that he could focus on making music, but has made the occasional appearance on shows like Malcom in the Middle, Nashville and 7th Heaven.
