There are rumours that Hey Arnold! may be returning and we are SO here for it

Yes please!

“Move it, football head.”

It’s been 14 years since the final episode of Hey Arnold! aired, and we’ll admit it – a small part of us is still hoping for new episodes one day.

The cult animated series returned to the small screen for a brief moment in 2017, when the second movie (Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie) premiered.

But, sadly, there have been no new episodes – and composer Jim Lang says that it is unlikely Nickelodeon would revive the show as the TV movie wasn’t a hit with younger viewers.

Although, as he told the Tunes/Toon podcast, there was one age group that loved it.

He explained:

“Look at the numbers! When the movie premiered, in your age group [referring to millennials] we totally killed.

“With the Nickelodeon audience, not so great. So they decided, ‘Nah we’re not gonna do it.’”

But, according to Lang, there could still be a future for the kids of P.S. 118 on a  streaming service.

He continued:

“Netflix, Amazon, Apple were all people that they were going to go out to with the idea of trying to make a season six of Hey Arnold!

“We haven’t heard anything yet but we’ve got our fingers crossed.”

The animated TV series ran for five seasons, between 1996 and 2004, as well as spawning a movie in 2002. A second film debuted in 2017.
